Suggested Donation
We suggest a contribution of $25 per concert set, excluding the holiday concert, or $75 for the full season. These contributions help support the orchestra and the music we create together. Checks may be made payable to Riverside Chamber Symphony and given to Mindi Calabrese, our principal flutist. Riverside Chamber Symphony is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and contributions are tax deductible.
Concert Dress Attire
Concert dress attire is all black with black closed-toed shoes. Make sure your attire is cleaned and pressed. Also, please avoid wearing strong fragrances as they may be distracting to others.
Making Music Together
A good rehearsal depends on all of us. A few things help our evenings run smoothly:
Arrive ready to play. We recommend arriving about 15 minutes early so there is time to set up, settle in and tune before rehearsal begins.
Come prepared. Bring your music, stand, stand light, pencil and anything else you need for rehearsal.
Tune together. Our principal oboist leads the orchestra through three concert A’s: winds and brass, low strings, and high strings. Quiet during tuning helps everyone hear clearly.
Listen generously. Part of ensemble playing is listening to the conductor and to one another. Giving our full attention during rehearsal helps us use our time well and make better music together.
Take care of one another. We ask musicians to keep side conversations to breaks and to share questions, ideas and concerns with kindness and respect.
