The Riverside Chamber Symphony is a small orchestra that takes on big pieces

Celebrating its 25th Season this year, the Riverside Chamber Symphony is a 30-piece ensemble founded and conducted by Philip Bayles. Currently a resident ensemble of the Richard E. Wildish Community Theater. The orchestra performs music of the masters — Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Schubert and many others; and also premieres new works by regional composers.
Founder and Conductor – Philip Bayles

Philip Bayles has a distinguished career background in both music and computer-related fields. His conducting has received regional and national acclaim. He was founding conductor of the Eugene Opera and the Eugene Concert Choir. He’s appeared with the Eugene Symphony, Eugene Ballet, Oregon Mozart Players and many additional ensembles. Currently, Philip is the Music Director at United Lutheran Church of Eugene, Oregon. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Buford Park and served on the Board of Directors of Oregon Public Networking.
Associate Conductor – Jared Fischer
A committed educator, he and six colleagues founded the annual workshop, Porterville Summer Strings, in Porterville, California, with the mission of making music education accessible to children disenfranchised by poverty and at risk of gang recruitment. During the summer of 2010, he taught music at House of Peace Orphanage in southern India. Jared has most recently worked in the collegiate setting as a graduate instructor in conducting at the University of Oregon, where he earned two master’s degrees, one in orchestral conducting, the other in choral conducting.
